Resilience affirmations

We know every superhero needs a villain and somebody to save, but what about fans cheering them on? Can you imagine the Batmobile screeching to a stop, Batman jumping out with his cape flowing, ready to battle the Joker, but the streets of Gotham were silent and empty?

Just like Batman, we need support for our daily battles, and since most of us don’t have a crowd of fans following us around, we can get this confidence through resilience affirmations

Check out the Change Proof Podcast, which will help you thrive, navigate, and build resilience in times of change. Whether you speak them into existence, or they remain quietly in your mind, these are examples of powerful daily affirmations that even Batman could use:

  • I love my life.
  • I embrace the pivot moment in my life.
  • I’m living on guard and living on grace.
  • I gracefully overcome every challenge in my life.
  • I have proven again and again that I am strong and capable of far more than I realize.
  • I am resilient and can get through anything.
  • I give myself permission to do what is right for me. To take time for myself, and to put energy into things that matter to me.
  • I see rejection as redirection.
  • I am grateful for my strength. I am grateful for the people who support me.

  • I’m capable of amazing things.
  • I see light at the end of this tunnel.

Throughout this article, I will share tips on how to build resilience by incorporating affirmations into your daily routine.

Practicing Daily Affirmation Effectively

We learned why it’s important to incorporate affirmations for mental strength into your daily routine, and what they might look like. Now, let’s talk about how to put them into practice.

Choose One or Create Your Own Affirmation

As a resilience speaker, I am most comfortable speaking from my heart. If I read a speech by somebody else, it doesn’t feel authentic and my audience isn’t as engaged.

Affirmations for strength are the same. You may be comfortable using the examples I’ve provided, but if they don’t engage your mind and heart, it’s best to create your own. Whatever you choose, be sure to use meaningful sentences that start with “I am” as your affirmations for resilience and shift your mindset.

Make It a Daily Routine

Even Batman might have an off day if he left the bat cave without brushing his teeth. When you do something every day, it will naturally become a habit, and your day won’t be the same if you forget.

Make a habit of repeating affirmations in order to initiate the desirable state of resilience you seek. Positive habits take time to make and may be easy to break, so it’s critical to try not to skip days. If you meditate, affirmations can be a great addition to your daily practice.

Make affirmations for mental strength as much of a habit as brushing your teeth.

Practice Daily Affirmation in the Alpha Wave

Using powerful daily affirmations when you are not feeling your best will create conflict between how you feel and what you say, which won’t be effective. Channel your inner Batman by introducing your daily affirmations on Alpha brain waves.

Alpha waves are characterized by being clear-headed, present and fully in the moment. Alpha waves create a sense of peace and well-being in your mind and body. You may hear athletes talk about being “in the zone” when they are at peak performance. They are describing the Alpha state of mind. Alpha brain waves have been shown to boost creativity and resilience to stress, and reduce anxiety and depression.

That sounds amazing right, so where do we sign up?

The Alpha wave frequency is often achieved before falling asleep or right after waking up in the morning. Another way to achieve Alpha frequency is through long-term meditation practice. But a simpler way to help you move to Alpha brain waves is to drink black, green or white tea, which all contain a natural substance called Theanine that increases activity in the Alpha frequency band. Drinking two cups of these teas significantly generates Alpha brain waves, moving you into a state of relaxed alertness.

Being in this state creates an optimal space for resilience affirmations that will help you embrace a belief with greater power and efficiency. This type of resilience-positive psychology is positively transformational.

Make Your Affirmation Realistic

As much as we may want to become Batman, that probably isn’t achievable. When creating your affirmations, it’s important to make them realistic. One reason affirmations may not work is that they are unattainable.

If your affirmation is too far out of the realm of reality, no amount of repeating it will convince your brain to accept it. Your brain is incredibly perceptive and it will fight against something it knows isn’t possible.

While you can’t train your brain to accept the unacceptable, you can guide it to choose how you think, and shift your focus from negative to positive. This is a main component in the power of positive psychology and resilience.

Visualize Your Highest Self

Affirmations can help alter long-standing patterns and beliefs about yourself and the world around you. A great way to initiate this change is to act as if you’ve already succeeded.

While creating your affirmations for strength, keep them simple and clear by using the present tense. For example, you may say, “I am confident” rather than “I will be confident.” This focuses attention towards shifting your overarching beliefs, rather than aiming for a one-time goal.

You may be thinking, “but I don’t feel confident, so this won’t work.” But by saying, “I am confident,” your brain will begin looking for and finding evidence to back that up. If it feels uncomfortable to start with such a bold affirmation, instead try, “I choose to feel confident.” Your brain will help you feel that way, and you will begin naturally choosing to feel confident.

Say Your Affirmations Out Loud

It may not be in the comics, but at some point Batman has stood in front of a mirror in the bat cave, and told his black-clad reflection, “I am Batman. I save the day.”  Saying affirmations for mental strength out loud makes them more reachable and real.

Write your affirmations in a journal, and once the sentences are clear, simple and meaningful, confidently say them out loud. You will realize how confident you are with yourself, your dreams and your goals. Saying these “I am” affirmations for resilience will help you feel how aligned they are with your inner thoughts.

How Powerful Affirmations Help to Build Resilience

It’s one thing to read these examples, listen to a resilience speaker, to hear how affirmations can be positively life-changing, but until you feel the effects of this resilience-positive psychology, you may not put what you’ve learned into real-world practice.

I challenge you to choose one “I am” affirmation for resilience and say it every morning for 30 days. If it takes 12 seconds, that’s only six minutes out of the 43,200 you have available during those 30 days.

Batman wouldn’t turn down that challenge, would he?

The resilience you feel will be worth those six minutes, and you won’t want to stop there.

Reduce Negative Thoughts

How you view things is critical to realizing your potential and overcoming challenges. The power of your mind is extraordinary, and when you use it to choose positivity, you will learn how to build resilience.

Using resilience affirmations will allow you to become aware of your thought patterns and feelings, which will reduce the risk of negativity taking hold.

Ability to Manage Stress

Research has found that daily affirmations activate the reward centers in your brain, which helps to reduce pain, maintain balance in times of stress and become more resilient.

You can’t change what happens to you, but you can change how you respond to it. Incorporating affirmations may not erase stress, but it will help you get through it and bounce forward more easily.

Achieving Goals

Even a superhero as powerful as Batman finds obstacles in the process. For every villain he defeats, stronger versions pop up to try to stop him in his quest to rescue Gotham City.

Your life is similar in that there will always be more challenges, but affirmations have the power to motivate you to take steps towards achieving your goals.
